The Day We Saved a Life šŸŒŸ

šŸ¢šŸ‘šŸŒŸ In the world of real estate, where property evaluations and client meetings dominate, the last thing you'd expect is a heartwarming tale involving a newborn lamb. Yet, that's exactly what happened to me and one of our former agents Elena. What we thought would be like any other routine day, turned into an extraordinary adventure and quite the story. āœØšŸ¾

Elena and I were on a property evaluation mission for a client when the unexpected occurred. As we walked along, discussing the nuances of the land and potential renovations, a curious sound filled the air. šŸŽ¶ It was a peculiar blend of bird song and feline meowing that led us to look up, half-expecting a colorful avian performer. I remember looking up the trees and asking Elena multiple times "What is that?" šŸŒ³šŸ¦œ After finding nothing in the trees, we then realized the source of the sound was far closer to the ground ā€“ a tiny lamb (well at first, we thought it was a goat but then we were corrected), nestled and alone. She (we were made aware later it was a girl) was on the other side of the fence and it truly felt like she kept calling us and asking us for help! šŸšŸ’¬ā— Without a hint of hesitation, Elena and I jumped into action and reached through the neighboring fence. The lamb's mom was nowhere to be found and there was no neighbor in sight. I grabbed an old towel I had in my car and Elena wrapped her in it. šŸš—ā¤ļøšŸ§ŗ It was October, and that particular day was a bit colder than usual. Elena hugged her, carried her to the front seat of the car and the lamb fell asleep. šŸ˜“šŸŒ¤ļø

šŸŒŖļøšŸ¤ What followed was a whirlwind of determination and emotion as we searched for a vet who could help us tend to the lamb's needs. We drove to a couple vet offices nearby (grateful for GPS) only to find out that most city vets do not see any animals beyond ordinary household pets (dogs, cats, bunnies, hamsters, parrots, etc.) šŸ„šŸ¶šŸ±šŸ¦œ We probably made 12 calls, and no one could help us! šŸ˜©šŸ“ž We canceled the rest of our afternoon meetings and called our husbands to pick up our kids from their respective schools. We were determined to make sure this lamb was safe. šŸš«šŸ“ššŸ§’šŸš— Our quest would lead us to the charming town of Bulverde, just north of San Antonio, to an amazing veterinarian who would play a vital role in the lamb's journey to recovery. (THANK YOU Country Hill Veterinary Clinic). To our surprise (and relief) they were experts in livestock. šŸ¾šŸ‘©ā€āš•ļø The veterinarian's diagnosis was poignant ā€“ the lamb, mere hours old, had been abandoned, likely one of a twin rejected by its mother, and if we did not feed it and cared for it, it would most likely die in a couple of days. šŸ˜¢šŸ¼šŸ„ He said we had found her right on time or else she would not have made it. Armed with the vet's guidance, Elena's role shifted from that of a realtor to a dedicated caregiver. šŸ’ŖšŸ šŸ‘ The veterinarian gave her every detailed instruction and armed her with knowledge and a sense of purpose. I was so grateful she was with me. The idea of taking care of a lamb was terrifying to me (I only know dogs) and Elena owned the situation like a boss; a lamb-momma-boss! šŸ’¼šŸ‘šŸ• I might have been driving that day, but she did all of the heavy work to care for the little creature. šŸš—šŸ’¼ After the vet, we had a to-do list (and a supply and food list). Our quest for supplies took us to a local feed store, where Elena selected the essentials to nourish and nurture the fragile creature based on the vet's direction. Armed with a giant baby bottle and the newfound responsibility of lamb care, Elena embraced the challenge with open arms, took the lamb home, and later informed me that she had named her Reece Cup (very fitting given her fur color!) šŸ¼šŸ”šŸ‘šŸ’•

šŸ—“ļøšŸŒŸ A few months went by, and the transformation was a sight to behold ā€“ our once-helpless Reece Cup, thrived under Elena and her family's watchful eye. šŸšŸ’–

From bottle feedings to cuddles and careful monitoring, Elena's life had been turned upside down by this unexpected lamb companion. šŸ¼šŸ¤—šŸ” Through weeks of tireless dedication, Reece Cup went from a delicate newborn to a spirited lamb with a personality that had us all smitten. šŸ˜šŸ Elena would constantly share videos with the entire team of the little lamb playing with her dogs and her kids. šŸ•šŸ‘¶ Here is a picture of her first Christmas! šŸŽ„šŸ“ø

šŸ—“ļøšŸŒŸ The day eventually arrived when Reece Cup was ready to move on to her next chapter. Elena, who had devoted herself to Reece Cup's well-being, found a farm where our furry friend could be with her kind. šŸ‘šŸžļø Saying goodbye was no doubt emotional for Elena and her family, but it was clear that their care had given Reece Cup a chance at a happy, healthy life. šŸ’•šŸ‘‹ (This is what she probably looks like today!) šŸ“øšŸŒæ

šŸ™šŸ‘ I will forever be grateful to Elena and what she did that day and over the next few months! šŸ’–šŸ‘ I cannot take credit for any that.

As we returned to our roles as realtors, we couldn't help but marvel at the twists and turns life can take. A routine property evaluation had transformed into a story of compassion, dedication, and a little lamb named Reece Cup. šŸ¢šŸŒŸšŸ This heartwarming tale reminds us that even in the most unexpected of circumstances, kindness and a willingness to step outside our comfort zones can lead to extraordinary connections and memories that will warm our hearts for years to come. ā¤ļøāœØ And even better, we are left with a wonderful story to tell! šŸ“ššŸ¤— Life sure is filled with wonders; that day we were meant to be there and help that little lamb and I am so glad we did! šŸ‘šŸ•šŸ‘šŸŽ¶
